RED ROOM 2 (2000)
This is a good example of Japanese torture-porn. Though not as extreme as the first, Red Room 2
attempts to combine gore and sex into a disturbing entrée. Daisuke Yamanouchi writes and directs
again in quite the same way as the original. If you like torture-porn make yourselves familiar with these
films because the Japanese mind crafts bizarre dishes with seemingly simple ingredients. Although a
step down from the original I doubt you’d want to miss this one.
We get four characters, inside a room, and a box of household instruments. Nothing else is needed or
used to tell the story. There is a popular game called the King’s game. It’s the exact same game played
in the first film. I'll explain the rules again but I do recommend you check out the review for the first
movie. So these four desperate people will play the craziest game, risking their lives even, to win a lump
sum of cash. They sit around a table and hand out four cards. Each card has a number: (one, two, and
three) and the fourth card has the symbol of a crown. After the cards are dealt the person who gets the
crown card plays the king and gets to impose a punishment, typically either violence, sex, or some other
disgusting thing. Anything you can think of. The more perverse the better. Two people take part in the
punishment while the extra person watches and if you can’t fulfill the deed then your out. Last person left
gets the prize. Oh, and there are cameras all around the room recording the event plus the voice of the
game lord who is not seen, or does anything except award the prize money in the end.

There is a bit of interaction throughout the film where all the players get to know each other a bit
better. There are two guys and two girls. The first brute idiot wants the money to pay off his debt to the
Yakuza. The other guy wanted the money for an operation to save his two year old daughter which got
turned into a vegetable (not literally) when she wandered into a washing machine. Then theirs a
religious cult chick who’s pretty cute and wants the money for her cult and the last woman is … your
ready for this? The last woman is a fucking robot! We don’t find this out till the end but I couldn’t keep
my mouth shut.
Your probably asking yourself what kinda shit goes on in this red room. Well, I’ll tell you. There’s vomit
drinking, toothbrush insertion up the nasal cavity with more than enough blood squirt, and masturbation.
We get to see the robot’s breasts while she rubs her ass up a guy’s crotch. Theirs fighting too of course.
One of the highlights is when the cult chick is being fisted and the dude pulls out her premature baby.
Later the crazy cult bitch strangles the same guy to death using the umbilical cord. Yes, the umbilical
cord.
If all this sounds like a good time to you then go find both of these films, grab a six pack and enjoy with
your friends, or alone. Although torture-porn is a relative new genre people everywhere are making
good stuff. Join the bandwagon because it only starts with the SAW films. I enjoyed this movie a little but
the craziness of the first overshadows this installment. I expected MORE. This may sound hard to
believe considering what kind of things are in here but it’s no home run. For example the original
blended sex with gore very well. This one comes out a bit messy but it’s still fun and there’s a fucking
robot!
