With a name like Blood Seekers you’d think you’d be in for a bloody treat. Then you find out it’s a tame Philippine horror film from the 70s which plays more like a dumb murder mystery, and you’ll be hard- pressed to find a drop of blood. The movie was actually filmed entirely in the Philippines in the early sixties in black and white. The "tense" scenes at the end actually employ a color tint to heighten the excitement.

A pretty young girl just leaving work from the club she works at is attacked and killed on her way home by an indistinct monster man. Captain Miguel from the local police squad flies in N.Y. detective, and good friend, Adam Rourke, to help on the case. Once they get together they talk about the other victims, drink, and Miguel introduces Adam to his pretty yet headstrong sister Sylvia and Adam is instantly hooked. All the victims have scratches on their forearms and are drained of blood. The local casino is under suspicion and Adam proposes he go in undercover as a writer to see what he could find.

The owner of the club is Cauldron and Adam immediately tries to setup an interview with him claiming it’s for a newspaper. He gets to talk to him but before that, Caulderon’s wife, a shapely blonde woman, performs a belly dance show at the club. Adam keeps poking his nose where it doesn’t belong and at night an assailant tries to kill him in his hotel room. Adam is faster and draws his gun and shoots the guy dead. Later that night the monster man kills again. You don’t get a good look at his face until the third murder, in which he looks like he has the head of toxic avenger but with more lumps and indistinct facial features. Adam causes more trouble getting into a bar-fight, trying to sneak into the club’s private area. Caulderon’s wife approaches him for help and asks to meet with him in secret to talk about her abusive husband.

They meet late at night by some trees and drink and talk but she is evil and has drugged Adam. When he awakes he’s tied to a tree. Meanwhile, Sylvia (the girl Adam has the hots for) wants to help but get’s herself caught by the monster man while snooping around the secret crypt below the casino. She is tied up and prepped for blood draining. Caulderon’s wife explains to Adam how she needs the blood of some girls for eternal life then she heads back to the crypt. A strange guy unties Adam and they call the police. They head to the casino. Adam arrives just in time to stop Sylvia from being drained of blood. Now here comes the strangeness. Caulderon’s wife throws a smoke bomb and turns into a very old woman. Then she throws another and disappears. Finally the monster head man becomes a regular Philippine man and that’s it.

This was one of the lamest horror movies I have ever seen. It had a linear story but it did not do a good job of explaining what happened at the final ritual. This would probably have been rated P.G. today. I gave it one coffin because the story was ok until the end. All it needed was a satisfying ending for a two coffin rating lol!
