No list of Halloween themed films would be complete without Night of the Demons. This fun little flick
from the 80s captures the spirit of irreverent youth on a demonic night of debauchery. Kevin Tenney
(Witchboard, Witchboard 2: The Devil‘s Doorway) directs and scream queen Linnea Quigley stars.
Angela (Amelia Kinkade) is throwing a Halloween party at the broken-down Hull House. She knows the
place is possessed by demons and rests on a cemetery but this only makes things more exciting. Her
sluty friend, with a sinfully hot body, Suzanne (Quigley), helps gather the booze and snacks for the
party. When we are first introduced to Quigley’s character she is bending over, in a short dress,
exposing her tight ass in white panties. She’s distracting the two male store owners while Angela steals
things for the party.
Basically everyone at the party is there to get hammered, get laid, or both. As soon as they get there
they start drinking and dancing. When the boom box dies Angela wants to hold a séance. It’s not long
before Angela and Suzanne are possessed by the demons. Two of the couples split up and go have sex
while the others watch Angela in a bewitching dance by the fireplace. Suzanne is acting weird too. She’s
painting her face with lipstick and taking off her clothes and in a freakish scene she inserts the lipstick
into her nipple! The two girls then turn into demons and start killing people. I would have liked a full
demon transformation but only their faces change. Some of the kids try to escape but find the house
completely surrounded by a wall. Everyone starts running around the house trying not to get killed by
Angela and Suzanne. The thing is that once your dead, you turn into a zombie and go off to kill the
others.
I liked the beginning of the film better than the rest of it. They really give us a nice set up. There are
lots of funny jokes and every character is enjoyable. Once the party starts it’s fun to see the boobs, the
drinking and some light gore kills but there’s not a lot of demon savagery. It does feel like your one of
the party-goers and your trying to escape along with characters you care about, but the demons could
have been more menacing. I gave this flick 3 coffins because I had fun and it got me into the Halloween
spirit. Quigley shines in her role and without her the movie would not have been as good. If your having
a Halloween party and are one movie short I recommend you find this flick.
