I’m glad to say I enjoyed Mark Leake’s Pleasures of the Damned! It’s just as good and entertaining as Isle of the Damned (2008). Pleasures delivers on the schlock, sleaze and gore we love so much here at Splatter. Let me warn you that if you are homophobic in the least, you will not like this movie. If the thought of men forcing their cocks into their male friend’s asshole repulses you, again, this movie is not for you. Pleasures is lewd, cheap and vulgar. It is a fun, bad movie that is endearing in it’s own queer (pun intended) way.
The film we are shown is portrayed as fictional filmmaker Antonello Giallo’s debut feature which had been thought to be lost after it‘s release in 1979. Colegrove (who actually made Pleasures in 2005) once again pays homage to Italian exploitation cinema, while adding new material making the movie quite unique. The entire movie has exaggerated dubbing (which you will either love or hate) like Isle. The story revolves around a satanic cult called The Children of Love. Evelyn has lost her drug-addicted brother, Tommy, to the cult and hires private investigator Jack Steele to locate his whereabouts and ultimately rescue him. Evelyn is a petite woman with the hottest bouncy boobs around, which unfortunately we never see exposed.
The primary members of The Children of Love are a biker gang who ride around in a car. The group initiate new members by raping them in the ass. They are led by Charles Love whom encourages bisexual orgies, torture, and satanic rituals; sometimes all in one night! Mr. Love preps the boys for a special excursion the next day. They will trek through the forest around Negro mountain to enact a human sacrifice, appease an evil warlock and obtain the book of the knowledge of shadows. When morning comes the bikers are loitering around the forest waiting. They encounter several people whom they either kill or force to have sex. Jack Steele has followed and is looking for Tommy, who was supposed to be the human sacrifice. The party really starts when a group of ancient cult members are resurrected as blood-thirsty zombies. The zombies disembowel, pull limbs out, and sink their teeth into whoever they come across. Can Jack find Tommy before he’s offered up as a human sacrifice? Will Charles Love come into the possession of the ancient book? How many bikers will be eaten by these cannibalistic zombies?
If you enjoyed Isle of the Damned, chances are you will really dig Pleasures. The Children of Love are a group of disgusting oversexed bikers that will haunt your nightmares long after the film has ended. The gore will soak your pillows and sheets. The overall depravity will probably make you vomit out your meals. I recommend you watch this on an empty stomach.
