Welcome to camp Arawak, it’s not as popular as Camp Crystal Lake but I like it better. I bought the trilogy set and plan on reviewing them all. I haven’t seen the new one yet but I hear it kinda sucks. This movie is popular for the ending and in case you haven’t seen this film yet I won’t mention it directly.

The movie opens with a boating accident in which Martha looses her husband and young daughter. She is devastated, especially since she had always wanted a little girl. Now jump to eight years later. Richard and his cousin Angela are getting ready for a summer at Camp Arawak. When they get there all the kids are super excited and running allover the place. It’s difficult for the camp counselors to keep them in check. There is a horny pedophile cook that tries to put the moves on Angela in the walk in freezer. Her cousin walks in there just in time to stop it. But Angela won’t let that be the end of it, (by the way she’s the killer) she creeps into the kitchen and knocks over a huge pot of boiling something or other onto his face and body. The bastard is taken away screaming in agony.

A lot of the kids get pissed off at Angela because she doesn’t talk much. She just kind of stares at you like a pale faced zombie. Little by little Angela kills the kids that have wronged her and surprisingly develops a romance with her cousin’s friend Paul. They go as far as making out a little on the beach (just kissing) before Angela feels uncomfortable. There is this one killing where a boy is taking a crap in the bathroom and Angela first locks him in the stall from the outside by fixing a broom stick across the handles. Then she lowers a nest of bees, dropping it on him. The boy is stung to death without even finishing his dirty business. After this Angela catches Paul kissing another girl and believe me hell has no fury like a women scorned. Paul spends the rest of the movie begging for forgiveness but Angela just gives him the face and walks away. That’s what you get when you get involved with psycho girls.

There is this one mean counselor that picks up Angela and throws her into the lake because she won’t participate with the group or even answer her. That is a death wish for her. Later while she’s taking a shower Angela stabs at her and cuts a line down her back killing her painfully. Then she targets another girl and suffocates her with a pillow. Now for some weird reason the owner of the camp has it stuck in his head that Richard is behind all the killings. He finds him in the woods and beats him up. Bad move. Angela loves her cousin and will protect him too. She shoots an arrow straight through the man’s neck. Very sweet shot! By now people have found the dead bodies around the camp and they have called the police. But what about Paul? And the budding romance? Well my friends here is where I draw the line.

I told you I wasn’t going to ruin the ending and I won’t. Do yourself a favor and go see this movie. People have been talking about the ending for years. Yes it’s that good! My only regret is that with a movie like this; being a slasher in a camp with horny kids there be no nudity. Some of the scenes in the middle are not necessary and there needed to be some better scripted scenes with the supporting cast. But that’s ok because the kills are original and best of all Angela (played by Felissa Rose) is an amazing killer. She goes down in the horror history books as one of the most weird and creepy killers. I heartily recommend this one to you.
