Trilogy of Blood came about when the lead singer of a psychobilly rock band (The Dead Neks), Joey Broy, met with Charlie Ruckus of Ruckus productions to produce a short film to showcase three of their songs. It ended up looking like a long Rob Zombie music video with Z-grade gore and an ample supply of bouncing boobs. The film’s budget was reportedly 62 bucks and it was shot over a three day weekend with no real actors except for the beautiful Brenna Roth, daughter of rock legend, David Lee Roth.

The story is about three city girls who get invited to a late night country BBQ and live rock performance, in a rural backwoods town, when they pick up a hitchhiker. They are in for a crazy night of sex, booze, and carnage. Everyone is rocking along to the Dead Neks wild performance. After the show the girls are slaughtered and one is left to wonder if the Dead Neks are cannibal zombies.

The most likeable character is Marilyn, played by Brenna Roth. Her performance is steady and makes sense. Sherry (another city gal, played by Elyse Girl) is irritating and I’m glad she got killed. The music by the Dead Neks is good, and a lot of fun. My favorite scene was the indoor sex scene with one of the blondes where we see her excellent boobs! The gore was fair, considering the budget. The main problem I had with this short (and the reason for the low coffin count) was that it is more of a companion piece to the Dead Neks music and not so much a film of its own. The music is great but it overpowers the story, rendering it expendable.

I feel that as a short, with all the live music crammed in (although the Dead Neks rock out hard!), the plot has no room to expand. I would have liked to have seen this as a feature; to see the story open up. If what your looking for is 27 minutes of killer psycho Billy tunes, boobage and blood splatter then this is your gig.
